How to Verify the First Agent Task After Connecting to a Computer?

Use a verifiable small task to confirm execution location, directory, and approval behavior.

First Confirm Mode and Computer

In Settings → Remote Control, confirm the target computer is connected, then switch to Agent and check the actually selected environment in the input area. Being able to chat on the web only indicates the interface and account are available; it does not prove the local command chain is ready. When using for the first time, temporarily keep only one clearly identified target machine to avoid mistakenly selecting among multiple connections with similar names.

Start with a Clearly Scoped Read-Only Check

You can describe: "List the files in my specified test directory and report the current system and working directory without modifying any files." Choose a directory you understand that contains no unrelated sensitive content. After the result returns, verify whether the file names and paths match expectations. If the task requires a certain tool, first have the Agent check if the tool already exists; do not include automatic installation or broad scanning in the initial verification.

Then Decide Whether to Expand the Task Scope

Check the current permission options and approval prompts to confirm whether commands and file operations require your step-by-step approval. If verification fails, first distinguish whether the connection is unavailable, the tool is missing, or system permissions are denied, and fix each accordingly; do not directly switch to full access in an attempt to resolve all errors. Both Desktop and Local Agent run on the host without container isolation; changes made will not be automatically undone when the chat ends.
