What to Do If the Installation Package Fails to Download, Won't Open, or the Wrong Version Is Selected

First verify the official source and target architecture, then distinguish between download, system installation, and login issues.

Re-verify Source and Target System

Access the corresponding installation package from Hackcat's official download page, which redirects to the publicly released files. The recommended button detects the system based on the accessing device, so when downloading for another computer, it may suggest the wrong system; please use the full desktop download options to verify macOS, Windows, or Linux and the architecture. Do not rename the file extension to treat it as an installation package for another platform, and do not use unknown mirrors as substitutes.

Handle According to Failure Stage

If the file has not finished downloading, check the network, available disk space, and whether the download was interrupted, then retry from the original source. If the file has downloaded but the system refuses to open it, record the package name, architecture, and system error, and confirm whether the format is suitable for the current distribution or system. System security prompts should be judged based on the actual source and system instructions; the help process does not require disabling all protections, nor does it guarantee support for any unlisted system versions.

Verify the Application Separately After Successful Installation

After the window can be launched, you should log into the application and check local connectivity, rather than attributing login failures to installation package errors. Normal use of the installation package does not require prior configuration of Rust or compiling source code. If the download source continuously returns errors, record the time of occurrence, the selected platform option, and sanitized error messages; do not include authentication redirect URLs, connection commands, or other account credentials in feedback.
