Why does the free monthly limit get reached before using up the daily quota?
Monthly usage and daily request counts are calculated separately.
Two limits exist simultaneously
Free accounts have an independent monthly usage limit in addition to the daily request quota. Long conversations, model processing, and tool calls that have been counted all generate usage, so you cannot judge how much usage remains solely based on how many messages were sent that day.
A single Agent request involving multiple steps of search or analysis does not consume usage equivalent to a very short pure Q&A interaction.
Follow-up arranged according to monthly usage prompts
When the monthly limit is reached, the conversation will provide related recovery prompts. Even if the daily quota later recovers, the monthly limit may still remain in effect.
The monthly limit prompt does not mean that every previous request consumed the same amount. When investigating usage, review whether you repeatedly read long materials, performed repeated searches, or executed many tool steps; subsequently, first conduct smaller scope verifications, then decide whether to expand based on the results.
- Read the prompt and confirm the limit is monthly usage.
- Keep completed outputs and the next step checklist.
- Wait for monthly recovery or check other available plans on the current page.
Local runs also consume model usage
Desktop or Local Agent runs tools on your computer, but the model is still processed by the service; therefore, connecting locally does not remove the monthly limit. Free accounts currently do not have a detailed usage panel, so not finding a settings entry should not be mistaken for abnormal charges. For subsequent tasks, try to provide clear goals, reduce repeated materials, and complete in steps according to importance.
