Can the Agent Continue Operating While the Terminal Program Waits for Input?
Distinguishing between interactive sessions and run sessions that only allow viewing output.
Not Every Run Session Supports Input
The Agent's terminal tool supports interactive sessions in applicable environments, allowing continued input, output viewing, waiting, or termination. However, a normal run session that returns after a long delay may only support viewing and waiting, without direct input capability.
Therefore, seeing a session identifier does not necessarily mean it is an interactive terminal that can be operated.
First Confirm What the Program Is Waiting For
If an installer, command-line tool, or remote session is paused at a prompt, the Agent should first review the current output and then choose the appropriate interaction method, rather than guessing the input.
For example, if the program is paused at a prompt asking whether to overwrite a file, you should first clarify whether the original file needs to be kept before deciding what to input. Do not treat the default confirmation as a safe answer for all interactions; if the status is unclear, first review the current prompt and existing files before proceeding.
- Check whether the program explicitly displays an input prompt.
- Confirm that the session supports interactive input.
- Only submit content that matches the current prompt.
- Continue to review the returned results to confirm that the input has taken effect.
Sensitive Input and Exiting
Do not paste sensitive information such as account passwords or connection tokens directly into ordinary chats. When authentication is required, use the appropriate login process actually provided by the service; if no secure and usable entry exists, complete that step yourself. Once a session has ended, you cannot input into the history; first confirm the status. Terminating the operation does not necessarily undo changes the program has already made.
