Hackcat

Why is the reasoning content collapsed, showing only the last part?

Understand the difference between long content preview, expansion, and the final answer.

Long content uses preview

To keep the chat responsive, longer reasoning content may only display the most recent portion. Seeing content change while generating does not necessarily mean old text is lost; it may just be the current preview window updating.

This type of display is separate from the final answer. When reading conclusions, you should refer back to the answer text and tool outputs, and not treat interim thoughts as final judgments.

How to view expandable content

After the current turn is complete, if the corresponding area provides an entry like Show full reasoning, you can click to view the content provided to the interface. If no entry appears, it does not mean there is a hidden setting that can be forcibly enabled.

For example, to confirm a vulnerability judgment, you can ask about trigger conditions, related outputs, and counterexamples, rather than requiring restoration of invisible internal processes. If the final answer differs from interim reasoning, ask the model to explain what evidence the conclusion is based on and correct any errors in the actual report.

  1. First, wait for the current reply to finish.
  2. Expand the corresponding reasoning area instead of resending the question.
  3. When verifying results, ask Hackcat to provide concise evidence and verification steps.

Limits of expansion

The interface can only display content that the model service actually provides and is allowed to show. Empty or hidden content will not be restored by expanding; “complete” refers to the text obtained in that area, not a guarantee of all internal model processes. If your goal is to review conclusions, requesting sources, assumptions, and reproducible steps is usually more useful than pursuing longer reasoning text.
