How to Set Common Custom Instructions?
Save stable preferences in personalized settings and actively save them.
What Information Is Suitable to Save
Custom instructions are suitable for frequently used contexts and expression preferences, such as your familiar technical level, preferred explanation style, common methods, and how you wish to be addressed. Goals that apply only to a single task should be placed directly within that task. Do not save temporary verification codes, keys, or customer information that does not need to be retained long-term as personal preferences.
Access Configuration and Save
Open Settings → Personalization, and select the configuration entry next to "Custom Instructions." The dialog provides fields for name, work background, desired style, and other information. After filling them out, click "Save"; each field has a character limit, and if exceeded, the interface will show a count and prevent normal submission and saving.
- Go to Settings → Personalization → Custom Instructions.
- Fill in stable and useful personal preferences.
- Check the character count prompt, click save, and confirm completion.
Verify with a Small Question
After saving, you can send a simple question to see if the answer better fits your needs; if it is still too long or too technical, return to settings and adjust to a more specific description. Custom instructions provide preference information to the assistant but do not guarantee completely consistent answers every time, nor can they replace clear input and evidence required for the current task. When preferences change, update the original fields to avoid retaining conflicting requirements simultaneously.
