How to Downgrade to a Lower Plan and When Does It Take Effect?

Distinguish between expiration changes and immediate adjustments, then confirm current benefits accordingly.

Effective Time Depends on the Specific Confirmation Interface

The effective time of plan changes may vary depending on the entry point. Regular plan changes may immediately process billing adjustments; the “switch to a lower plan” option provided to eligible accounts during the cancellation process is scheduled to take effect after the current paid cycle ends.

Therefore, do not assume all downgrades will result in immediate refunds or that all downgrades will take effect next month. The target plan, effective date, and payment information shown on the confirmation page are the basis for this operation.

Behavior After Scheduling Expiration Changes

If you choose to downgrade upon expiration, the current cycle usually continues with the original plan, and the account will display the pending plan and its effective date. This arrangement will not fail simply because the original plan is temporarily still shown, nor does it require clicking again.

This expiration downgrade process does not result in an immediate refund of the price difference. Cancellation, refunds, and plan changes are handled separately; if you want to completely stop renewal, you should cancel the subscription rather than downgrade to another paid tier.

Check Before and After Changes

  1. Record the target plan, billing cycle, effective date, and confirmed amount.
  2. After completion, go to Settings → Account to confirm whether the pending plan is displayed.
  3. If you want to keep the current plan, use the “Keep Plan” option provided by the account and check whether the pending change prompt disappears.
