What are the prerequisites for running Local Agent?
Check Node, terminal, and network conditions; do not mistake source code build steps as connection requirements.
First check the Node environment on the target computer
The current Local Agent package declares a requirement for Node.js version 18 or higher. The check should be performed in the terminal of the user on the computer where the connection command will be run; having Node installed on another computer does not automatically provide the target machine with the runtime environment. If the terminal does not recognize 'node' or 'npx', complete the Node environment setup first, then reopen the terminal to confirm the programs can be found.
Use the complete startup command generated by the settings
For regular connections, copy the command from Settings → Remote Control. The command prepares and runs the client; there is no need to manually download and compile the source code first. Do not replace the current parameters generated by the settings with old commands from articles, and do not omit the backend address. Network availability is required for the initial client acquisition as well as subsequent authentication and command relay; the ability to download the installation package does not guarantee that the connection has been established.
Confirm capability scope and exit method
Local Agent does not install all security tools for you, and interactive terminal capabilities depend on the local machine conditions. After the first connection, you can verify the working directory and required tools before starting actual tasks. It operates directly on the system with the current user's permissions and does not provide container isolation; usually, privilege escalation is not needed just for connection. To end usage, press Ctrl+C in that terminal, then confirm the connection status has exited or become unavailable.
