Is it necessary to change the model when using for the first time?
First confirm the task and available options, then decide whether to adjust.
Start by completing a clear question
If you are unfamiliar with the differences between models, you can first use the options currently allowed by the interface to complete a small task. Clarifying the input, checking evidence, and timely supplementing background information often helps more than frequently switching models. The model list and availability may change depending on the account and feature settings, so it is not advisable to look for a fixed name based on old screenshots.
Check the actual current options
The model selector in the input area shows selectable models and unavailable statuses; some scenarios also offer automatic selection. When preparing to switch, first confirm that the option is indeed selectable before sending the next message. The visibility of a certain name does not guarantee that the account can use it, nor does it indicate that the related tool environment is ready.
- Open the current model menu and check selectable statuses.
- Choose the model allowed by the interface according to this goal.
- Send the same clear question and check the answer quality and evidence.
Keep input consistent when comparing
When comparing answers, try to use the same goal, materials, and output requirements, then see which explains the evidence more accurately and points out limitations. Different wording does not mean more reliability; if there are factual discrepancies, return to the original materials to verify. The mode determines the working method, and model selection is another setting; do not confuse the roles of these two as the same button. First record which aspect needs improvement, then decide whether to change the option.
