Why Does the Free Local Agent Only Show Auto?

Local execution permissions and model selection rights are two separate matters.

This Is the Behavior of the Current Free Path

After a free account connects to the desktop application or Local Agent, the Agent can be used in the local environment; when switching to this path, the model selection will revert to Auto. Connecting your own computer does not turn the server-side model into a fully local model, nor does it automatically unlock all model tiers.

Therefore, seeing Auto does not mean the desktop installation failed.

Confirm the Status That Really Needs to Be Checked

First verify the connection and environment, then send a simple task. The model menu and computer connection status should be judged separately.

For example, if the computer is already connected but you only want to explain an error log, there is no need to reinstall the desktop application just because you see Auto selected. First check whether the actual task can be completed; only troubleshoot the connection if the tool reports a connection error, while quota prompts should be handled according to account limits.

  1. Confirm that the desktop or remote control list shows as connected.
  2. Select the Agent and choose the target computer.
  3. Use a small-scale task to check whether the tool output comes from that computer.

What Limitations Still Apply

Free Ask and the local Agent share the corresponding account quota and are subject to monthly usage and concurrent running limits. To understand other model permissions, check the current model menu and pricing page; a successful local connection does not guarantee that paid upgrades can be purchased. When operating the local machine, the user permissions of the launching program are used, and there is no container isolation.
