What to Do If a Project Prompt Requires Connecting to Desktop or Bound Directory Is Unusable?

Directory projects require a suitable desktop environment; first verify the connection and the actual path.

First Confirm Whether the Project Has a Bound Directory

For projects bound to a desktop folder, starting a new task without the desktop connected will prompt you to connect Hackcat Desktop first. Even if other CLIs are online, they cannot be simply considered equivalent to the desktop environment required by the project; Agent requests will also check whether Desktop is selected. First check the path displayed by the project and the target computer, then confirm that the application is logged in and the local connection is ready.

Check Whether the Directory Still Exists

If the connection is normal but files cannot be found, confirm whether the directory has been moved, renamed, deleted, or had its permissions changed, and whether you are currently using the original computer. If you need to adjust the binding, edit the project on the desktop, use the directory selector to change or remove the path, and save. The browser can display existing paths but does not provide the same directory modification capabilities; switching cloud environments will not automatically create the same directory.

Verify After Recovery Before Continuing to Write

Start with a small read-only check from the project to confirm that the current working directory and expected files are correct before executing the formal task. Changing the project path is not the same as migrating disk files, nor should it be assumed to stop already running old tasks. If a local directory is not needed and you only want to organize related chats, you can remove the binding as needed to keep a regular project; important results should be saved by yourself before making path adjustments.
